Jim Mueller is president of James Mueller & Associates LLC (JMA), a national consulting firm that provides services in the areas of organizational development, governance, and revenue development. With every client, the Mueller & Associates team maintains a focus on achieving outcomes consistent with an organization’s unique mission, values, and objectives.
Prior to consulting, Jim held leadership positions at Cornell University (Assoc. Dir. of University Class Affairs, Dir. of the Midwest Office), Northwestern University (Dir. of Development, Campaign Director), Lake Forest Graduate School of Management (VP of Enterprise Advancement), Advocate Healthcare (VP, Bioethics Center), and Goodwill Industries of Metropolitan Chicago and Northern Illinois (Executive Director). He also served as COO of Grenzebach Glier and Associates, an international philanthropy consulting firm. Jim has helped organizations through various phases of growth and development. He has organized and led strategic planning processes, facilitated organizational and cultural change, conducted internal capacity reviews and external studies, and consulted on all aspects of fundraising and fundraising campaigns. His clients include the Alaska Wilderness League, Broward College, Florida International University, Florida Council on Resource Development, Governors State University, Henderson Behavioral Health, Miramar Cultural Trust, Montana Wilderness Association, the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, the Smithsonian Science Education Center, Special Olympics Florida, and the University of Texas Law School. Jim has also organized and led education/training sessions for nonprofit leaders in Barbados and Haiti.
Jim successfully directed a $32M fundraising campaign for Northwestern University, and participated as a member of the fundraising team for Cornell’s mega-campaigns. He has solicited 6- and 7- figure gifts and collaborated with CEOs of Fortune 100/500 companies to provide cause-sector leadership, including the CEOs of Amoco, Continental Bank, LaSalle Partners, Motorola, United Airlines, and Zumiez. Jim graduated from Cornell University and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary.
